Saturday, May 18th at 7:30pm: Vocalist Rana Farhan in Concert at Stonelea Barn in Dublin! Combining the classical Persian poetry of Rumi with contemporary blues and jazz, Iranian musician & singer Rana Farhan. The concert is hosted by the Mariposa Museum as part of its current exhibition Sacred Geography: Origins of Faith—the Middle East. Limited Seating. Saturday, May 18, ALL DAY: "Children and the Arts Festival"

Friday, May 24 at 7 pm: The Mariposa will host Sufi "Ayin-i-jem" with Christopher Briggs. Ayin-i-jem, is a Sufi ceremony of poetry, music and expressive turning. Christopher Briggs will introduce poetry from Mevlana Rumi, and present some passages of turning while musicians, seasoned in Ottoman classical music, play “ilahis”—Turkish spirituals. Admission: $10

Mariposa Afternoon - Tuesday, May 28th at 2pm: "It's a Date!" — The highly revered fruit of the date palm is an integral part of Islamic culture, its existence dating back to 4000 BC in Iraq. Mose will tell of its importance in the Middle East, as a food staple and trade commodity and its celebration in myth and history. She will share a tasting of several date varieties and suggested recipes. Mose Olenik, Administrator at the Mariposa is also a gourmet cook trained in classic cuisine. Admission: $5 per person; Members Free. Refreshments served.

Thursday, May 30 at 7pm : The finalists from Conval High School will present their cases for their favorite charity before a panel of distinguished judges. A prize of $3000 will be awarded to the winning charity. The public is encouraged to attend in support of the teens whose proposals have risen to the final competition. The event is free and open to the public.
