THUMB PIANO

The thumb piano or bira, sanza, ralimba was used by the people of Niger, Nigeria, and Ghana. The
artifact was found by Portuguese explorers in 1586. The object was most
likely used in festivals or ceremonies also known as rituals. Its purpose was to entertain, help in performing rituals, and also inform buffalo of their presence.
