The Talking Drum/ Dun Dun

       Info by Sarah Holmes

  • The Dun-Dun is used to communicate with people. That is why it’s called the talking drum.

  • The Yoruba made the drum so that they don’t have to yell very far away.

  • Yorubas would just have to make a certain beat and everyone in the tribe would know that there was a meeting/ritual going on.

  • Skilled drummers mostly play it.

  • It’s still used by the Yoruba today.

  • The King had it played in front of him.

  • The stick is used for hitting the top of the drum.
