Ostrich Eggs

  • The Ostrich is the largest living bird in the world. They lay an egg that is 4,500 times heavier than a hummingbird.
  • Three to five Ostrich lay their eggs in the same nest. Once the Ostrich is done laying its eggs, there are about 50 eggs in that one nest.
  •  There is a hole on the egg. This hole is used by the San people from the Kalahari Desert to hold their water.
  •  Sometimes people kill Ostrich to use their skin for shoes.
  • The Ostrich egg is 6 inches long. The shell is as hard as a plate. Ostrich Eggs
  • The egg is equal to two Dozen chicken eggs. People say Ostrich eggs are really good to eat.
 
  • The Ostrich egg is the size of a bowling ball. Some are used as cooking pots.

  • The Ostrich lays the biggest living eggs today.
