Castanets

• People living in Guinea, and to be more specific slaves in Guinea, created the castanet. 

• The castanet is used by clicking the two sides together.

• Countries in Africa and even Spain use castanets.

• The castanet was used in ceremonies to ward off evil spirits and to heal illness.

• In some African countries it is still used for these purposes but now more commonly used as just an instrument not as a tool.
