African Fish Trap

Web Page By: Jaymes

  • It’s made out of straw sticks. It’s brown in color. They put food in so the fish will go in the fish trap. It doesn’t have decorations because it is all brown.

  • The tribe that uses the trap is the Luo people in Tanzania and Kenya. This trap helps them get food for their families. The Luo people eat mostly fish. They fish in Lake Victoria. They live off of fish, vegetables, groundnuts, coffee, sugar cane, and more. Music in the tribe is widely practiced in Tanzania and Kenya, both day and night. Sometime people call them “lake people.” They are the largest ethnic group in Kenya and Tanzania.

  • The luo people that created the fish trap use it to catch small and large fish. They live by Lake Victoria and made a fish trap to get their food. They are mostly known as lake people because they catch lots of fish. It is not worn because it goes in water so fish will swim in and get caught because they can’t get out. They still use the fish trap in Lake Victoria today.
