Picture of Gazelle Hide
  • This hide was made by Kenyans, but the specific tribe that made it is not known. It is so hard to find out which tribe used this because there are over 40 different tribes in Kenya.

  • More than one tribe may have used the Thompson Gazelle hide.

  • Hides were used for drumheads, clothing, shelters, masks, as paper, for rituals, canoes, as a status symbol, and even as shields.

  • This artwork shows that the tribe that made this were most likely a tribe that were hunter gatherers; this was probably a spoil from the hunt.
